The Mediation Committee on the Division of Revenue Bill, 2026 has reached a breakthrough agreement setting the equitable share for county governments at Ksh 428 billion.

Former civil servants have petitioned the National Assembly to intervene in what they describe as a discriminatory pension system that has left thousands of retirees struggling with inadequate benefits amid rising living costs.

The petition, presented to the House by Speaker Moses Wetang'ula on 4th June 2026, was submitted by Mr. John Serem, Eng. Richard Bett and Mrs. Olive Chepkoech on behalf of the Kenya National Association of Public Service Pensioners, Kericho Branch.

Budget highlights in Parliament on Thursday, June 11, following the National Assembly's
approval of the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure that will guide government spending in
the new financial year.

The Senate, Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) have called for urgent reforms to improve county competitiveness, reduce bureaucratic barriers and create a more attractive environment for investment and job creation.

Speaking during a roundtable between the Senate Liaison Committee and KEPSA in Naivasha, Clerk of the Senate Mr Jeremiah Nyegenye said the forum had become an important platform for shaping policies and legislation that influence business growth and livelihoods in counties.

The National Assembly has approved the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure and the Medium Term for the Financial Year 2026/2027, unveiling a people-centred budget aimed at strengthening social protection, expanding essential services, and advancing fiscal discipline.

Moving the motion, the Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, Samuel Atandi, outlined a framework anchored on public participation and targeted investments in health, education, housing, agriculture, and environmental resilience.
