National Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Hon. John Mbadi has delivered the Budget Statement for the FY 2026/27 before the National Assembly.

According to the CS, the proposed national budget for the Fiscal Year which stands at 4.82trillion, captures the ideals of both President William Ruto and the Late Raila Omollo Odinga on their aspiration to transform the country’s economy from current status to a more developed nation status.

National Treasury and Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary Hon. John Mbadi has reiterated the Government's commitment to steering the Kenyan economy through stability amid the raging global tensions that have had corresponding economic shockwaves.

Addressing a joint sitting of Parliament today as he presented the Budget Policy Highlights for the 2026/27 FY, Hon. Mbadi reiterated that policies set out in the 2026/27 Budget were anchored on policies steered through attaining economic stability amid the uncertain global economic space.

Former civil servants have petitioned the National Assembly to intervene in what they describe as a discriminatory pension system that has left thousands of retirees struggling with inadequate benefits amid rising living costs.

The petition, presented to the House by Speaker Moses Wetang'ula on 4th June 2026, was submitted by Mr. John Serem, Eng. Richard Bett and Mrs. Olive Chepkoech on behalf of the Kenya National Association of Public Service Pensioners, Kericho Branch.
