The Senate, through the Standing Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights, is inviting members of the public to submit written memoranda on the Statutory Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2026 (Senate Bills No. 11 of 2026).

The Bill seeks to address delays in the implementation of Acts of Parliament arising from the non-development or late preparation of statutory instruments by regulation-making authorities. It proposes clearer timelines for the preparation of statutory instruments, enhanced accountability through annual reporting to Parliament, and stronger parliamentary oversight over outstanding instruments.

Members of the public are invited to submit their views to the Clerk of the Senate on or before Friday, 2nd October 2026 at 5.00 p.m.
